GOOD NEWS!

Instead of waiting til friday, Dad gets to come home today!!!!
He'll most likely be home in an hour unless things change then maybe later on today

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Oh and a few notes from Dad....

We ate steak in front of dad, so we have to apologize now. He is pissed at us for eating steak in front of him when all he can eat is jello and Zeppes.

AND Terry Thompson is officially in trouble because my aunt Shelly came to visit today with an "Elect Terry Thompson" shirt, and my Dad still hasnt gotten one. So Uncle Terry, he wants to know where his shirt is... and I would like to know where mine is too (you know, I'm only your favorite niece.... just sayin)

They took out his epidural today, how many men do you know that can say they've had an epidural? (1)

He also had one of his tubes taken out of his stomach today! He has three.. now has two left. :)

SUCESS!

Dad is out of the ICU! Early! So, Everything is going very well! still not up for visitors though. I will let you know when he is!
Mom is staying the night with him tonight, and us kids just rented some movies and are staying home :)

still not up to it..

He is still not out of the ICU and is still not in the mood for visitors just yet. But, he is still doing great and healing as expected and better!

HELLO AGAIN!

He's doing pretty good today :) although he can feel everything now, so he's not in such a good mood. But, he is doing just fine. He was actually up and walking today. They might move him out of ICU tonight because he is doing so well. He really isnt in the mood for visitors today though so even if he does get moved out of the ICU we ask that you at least hold off til tomorrow. Which, I will also get on tonight and let you know if he moved out of the ICU, so you will no whether or not he can have visitors anyway. And tomorrow morning I will get on and let you know if he is up for visitors! :)

some more...

tellin us to rock on again.... :)
our nurse... I'm really not sure what her name is quite yet..
but Dad says her name is Nurse.

SO, we decided to get some pictures while he'll still let us...

tellin us to rock on.... :)
and its proof that he's doing just fine :) hahah

GOT TO SEE DAD :)

We decided that now would be the time to ask him questions while he was still loopy, Breckston and Corbin asked if they could get tattoos. He just rolled his eyes hahah. Oh and we still cant drive his cars...His throat is sore from all of the tubes, so he isnt doing a whole lot of talking. He wont be able to eat anything for three days, so he will be getting fed through a feeding tube. After the three days is up he will be able to start eating soft foods and gradually from there. He will for sure be in the ICU tomorrow, depending on how well and how quickly he recovers he might be able to come out of icu sooner! He showed us with his fingers how much pain he was in, which was a small amount hahah so that is good! Tomorrow might not be so lucky... We'll keep you posted.
Last Visitors: Emilie and Yao, and Janet Wiser... THANK YOU :)

Oh, AND, they successfully removed the entire tumor! And just if you were wondering for yourself, the procedure was the Whipple procedure. He will still have to be on Chemo, to be sure the tumor does not grow back. They will be starting him on Chemo in Five weeks, after he has fully recovered.

THE SURGERY IS FINALLY OVER!

Everything went perfectly as planned! He is doing very well, they just barely finished, and they are taking him out of the OR right now and waking him up and getting him off the anisthetics. :) We'll get to see him in about an hour and I will update again after that!
More Visiters: Jenny Adams :)

Still in the waiting room!

Last we heard, the surgery should be over by two, thats and hour shorter than expected :) everything is running smoothly and as planned. As far as we know, he will be in ICU for two days, possibly shorter depending on how well he recovers. And so far, Everything is going very well.
Thanks for all the visits! Grandma Cheryl, Grandpa Rick, Grandma Pat, Grandpa Paul, Aunt Chelle and Deb and Baylor, Aleisha, Michelle, Shannon and Kendell, Tierssa and Cole, And Whoever else decides to come tonight!

hello :)

We are just sitting in the waiting room now. They started him at 7:50 and are talkin 6-8 hours still. I'll get back on if i find anything else out!

HEY EVERYBODY!

Hey, its Kerrie. Most of you already know that on tuesday, July 27 2010, my dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. They caught it at a good time, and he is doing alright. We decided to make a blog to inform you as much as we can on anything we know rather than making a hundred phone calls!
Current Greg Status: Awesome! went for a bike ride yesterday, and has been to work in the past week. went out for dinner last night and went camping (we didnt stay the night) last night with the Cloughs :) he's lost weight, but the yellowing from the jaundice has gone down A LOT which is good! although he is still itchy.
Upcoming Events: Wednesday, the 11th, we will be going to Ogden Regional for my dads surgery. It will be eight hours long, and he will have to be in the hospital for 10 DAYS!! The surgery will be to remove part of his pancreas, his gall bladder, and his lymph nodes. After the recovery they will start him on Chemotherapy and later radiation.
Special Thanks: To everyone who has been bringing meals and cookies!!! we really appreciate it! and love the cookies hahah. Cara, Cathy, Rod, Cindy and Paul, Rachel and Mike, My grandparents (both sides), Michelle and Ken, The girls in Young Womens, Karen Gardiner, Dave and Linda and Everyone else! And thank you for all of the supportive phone calls and letters(Jon)! We truly appreciate everything!

I will get back on during the surgery and after to keep you updated as much as I can, and I will also let you know when it is ok to visit!
In the mean time, if you have any questions either e-mail any of us or call or text us!
